Derech Rupin is a street located in Jerusalem's Old City. It is named after Israel Rupin, an early Zionist leader and founder of the Jewish National Fund. The street was part of the expansion of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City during the period of British rule in the 1920s. The street was originally used as a carriage road and was later widened. It was closed to Palestinians during the 1950s. After 1967, the street was opened up again and Palestinians were allowed to visit the street. Today, the street is a bustling pedestrian walkway and teems with street vendors.
