HaRishonim Street in Haifa is named after the First Aliya, or first wave of Zionist settlers that arrived in the area in 1882. During this period of time, the development of Jewish settlements and culture in the region began. The name HaRishonim has come to symbolize the beginning of a modern Jewish presence in Palestine.
