Shalom Shabazi is a main street located in the heart of Jerusalem's Nachalat Shiv'a neighborhood. The street is named after Schebili Shalom Shabazai, a respected 17th-century Yemenite Jewish Rabbi who settled in the area during the Ottoman period. Shabazi was appointed head rabbi and spiritual leader of the Near East community, and is credited with introducing the Yemenite minhag to Jerusalem. To honor his legacy, the street took on his name and quickly became a major commercial hub in the city.
